This is a gorgeous book about a marvelous modernist-artist, Pierre Soulages. Book is in near perfect condition, DJ is very good except with 2 in tear in back (hardly noticeable), and is protected with Mylar covering. Sweeney, in the introduction, says a painting by Soulages is "like a chord on a vast piano struck with both hands simultaneously -- struck and held." Impressions on this reviewer are very similar. One of our all-time favorite painters whose work is reminiscent of Franz Kline. Bold slashes of color -- very exciting. Great gift awaiting your order.
