The Unknown Craftsman: A Japanese Insight into Beauty Yanagi, Soetsu; Leach, Bernard Tokyo Kodansha International 1972 0870111841 / 9780870111846 First Edition Hardcover Very Good No Dj as Issued This book has the subtitle, "A Japanese Insight into Beauty," and this lovely volume achieves that and more. Soetsu Yanagi was born 1889 in Tokyo, went to Tokyo Imperial University, majoring in psychology, but with a deep yearning to express his creativity in art. He was largely responsible for the establishment of the Japan Folkcraft Museum. Sometimes in the company of his friends SHOJI HAMADA and BERNARD LEACH, he encouraged numerous otherwise anonymous craftsmen and encouraged their work. The adaptor of this book is Bernard Leach, one of the world's greatest potters. This volume is Mr. Leach's tribute to Yanagi, his friend of some fifty years' standing. A wonderful gift. A marvelous book. The volume has a custom-made (as issued) plastic cover. Price:
